DISSOLUTION (2016)

Light installation.

Cement mixer, mirror, mirrored mylar, projector and annimation.

Dimensions variable.

Dissolution was exhibited as part of Glitch Festival 2016 in Rua Red  gallery. Curated by Matthew Nevin and Ciara Scanlan it included work by Elaine Leader, Margaret O'Brien, Algorythm and Helen Mac Mahon.

Dissolution is a work that was created in response to recent resurgence in property development in Dublin and how this activity was impacting on artists as well as the general public. 50% of artist’s studios in the city had been forced to close over the previous year creating a studio crisis in the midst of a far larger national homelessness crisis.

A sculptural light installation, Dissolution was named after the second transformative stage of the alchemical process. Images were projected into the mouth of a cement mixer that contained a mirrored surface. This surface broke the images down and distorted them, reflecting them out of the cement mixer onto the wall in front of it creating an ever-changing projection.
